Word Wall Kids

September 27th, 2008 by Mr. Schweizer

In our music room we have a Word Wall that kids in every class add to whenever they catch Mr. Schweizer saying a new music word. There are three rules to the game.

  1. Only a new music word that Mr. Schweizer has said that day counts.
  2. Each class can only add one word per day.
  3. The contestant must raise a hand and be called on (Blurting out an answer eliminates you from that day’s game. Plus, someone else usually swoops in and steals your word).

Once we have a new music word, the winner signs his/her name to it and staples it up on the word wall. The kids get a smiley face in Mr. Schweizer’s grade book and this year we’ll be giving a small MUSICAL PRIZE to the kid with the most words. Right now there are a lot of kids in a tie for 2nd place, but way out in front with 5 Music Words is Josh in Mrs. Julians class. Way to go Josh! You can see a chart with all the Music Words we have so far on the Word Wall and who put them up if you click below where it says “Read the rest of this entry”.

We’ve all been having a great time learning about Haydn and his “Surprise Symphony.” But here’s another surprise: Did you know Haydn loved rap music? Put your mouse pointer over the picture to see Haydn’s rapper look.
