Physical Education
My name is Mr. Leiser. I am the P.E. Teacher here at Nunaka Valley. My goal is to help every student find a sport or physical activity that they enjoy, and to help them develop the skills and confidence necessary to participate regularly. This year we will be exploring a variety of different movements, skills, games, and sports, and we will work on social skills through cooperative and team building activities. In addition to the regular P.E. classes, we offer a variety of before and after school sports and activities. Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns.

Nunaka Valley Cross Country Running Team (Grades K-5): This year we had our biggest running team ever with almost 75 runners! The team raced in the North Anchorage Area Cross Counrty Running Jamboree at Bartlett High School. We had a good time and the weather was great! Thanks to Mrs. Dearborn, Mrs. Nyholm, Ms. Thorson, and all the rest of the volunteers who helped make this possible! Also thanks to Mr. Wyatt for setting up the team canopy.
Castle Ball Tournament (Grades 2-5): Congratulations to the Blue Aces, our 2009 Castle Ball Tournament Champions! Also good job to the rest of the teams. They did their best and showed good sportsmanship! For those of you who have never heard of Castle Ball, it is a game where castles are built by putting 6 hula hoops together. Each team tries to protect their castles while attempting to knock down the other team’s castles. Here are some pictures from the tournament.
Floor Hockey (Grades K-2): This was our first year doing floor hockey with the kindergarten, first and second graders. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely do it again next year. Thanks to the student coaches who helped out!
